Requirements
The runtime tools, permissions and build dependencies Acrynite needs.
Runtime requirements
- A supported operating system and a matching Acrynite release binary.
- PostgreSQL client tools installed and available in
PATH. - PostgreSQL connection credentials.
- Network access to the database.
- An S3 bucket and valid AWS credentials when using S3.
- Docker running for physical restores using
--target docker.

Permissions
Logical and physical backups require different permissions. Physical backups and WAL configuration require a replication-capable PostgreSQL role and appropriate server-level access.
A normal application database role may not have sufficient permissions for physical backup or WAL configuration. Use a role with the required replication privileges.
Build requirements
Go 1.26 or later is required only to build Acrynite from source. The released binaries need no Go toolchain.
