PostgreSQL physical backup with pg_basebackup

Create a physical backup

Capture a PostgreSQL base backup with pg_basebackup for cluster-level recovery.

$acrynite backup run \
$  --database production \
$  --type physical \
$  --storage s3-prod-backups

Physical backups require pg_basebackup and the necessary PostgreSQL replication privileges. Before you run one, confirm that:

The user has the required privileges.
PostgreSQL permits the connection.
Required PostgreSQL client tools are available.
The destination has sufficient capacity.

Physical backup is not point-in-time recovery on its own

Configure and validate WAL archiving separately when point-in-time recovery is required. A base backup without a continuous WAL chain cannot recover to an arbitrary time.
